The repertoire of the ensemble consists of dances from the most representative folk areas of Romania: Transylvania, Moldavia, Oltenia, Muntenia, Banat, and Dobrudja and also of the Saxon, Gipsy, Hungarian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Russian, Italian, Mexican, Ukrainian communities.
The ensemble also puts on stage old-time customs in connection to life: birth, wedding and funeral, and work: shepherding, harvesting, viniculture, all well accessorized with the proper traditional tools and objects.
The dancers’ costumes follow the traditional embroidered floral or geometrical patterns and display elegant chromatic combinations of white and black, or vivid red, rich yellow, sky blue, even leaf green. The diversity of the costumes equals the abundance of folk dances and music. The performances amaze the audience with traditional musical instruments (the pipe from Mărginime), the lad who dances with five girls at a time, the rhythmical movements that involve clapping of hands and legs, fast and precise pirouettes. Every show is enriched by video projections and technical effects.
Vocal and instrumental solos complete the repertoire of the ensemble with music specific to Sibiu area and also to minorities living in Romania. Collaborations with well-known folk singers outline the wealth of musical folklore throughout our country. George Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsodies, violin and tarogato solos and instrumental pieces are masterfully interpreted by our professional orchestra.
Diversifying the repertoire is an objective within the ensemble, the artists presenting new musical-choreographic suites, promoting party music, waltz, pop music and Rock and Roll style, in dynamic artistic concepts that combine traditional with modern style.
